Sal Velluto

Sal Velluto’s professional career in comics started in 1986. Throughout these years, the Italian-born Utah resident artist has worked with all the major American publishers (Marvel, DC, Valiant), several independent publishers (Continuity, NOW, Penny Farthing Press, Hermes Press), as well as major international publishers from Italy, Sweden, and Australia.

From 1999 to 2002, Sal drew 34 issues of Marvel’s Black Panther, becoming the most prolific artist, to date, on this title. Some of Sal’s original design ideas for Black Panther were re-elaborated and used in the 2018 Oscar-winning movie. Other titles Sal worked on, which were made into movies or streaming series, are “The Phantom” (a 2009 movie with Billy Zane), Valiant/Acclaim’s “Bloodshot” (a 2020 movie with Vin Diesel),
and Marvel’s “Moon Knight” (2022, streaming series for Disney+).

Besides comics, Sal’s work extends to advertising, animation, design, magazines, video games, role-playing games, trading cards, and toys.

Sal Velluto and his wife, Sharon, of 39 years, live in West Jordan, Utah. They have four children and one grandchild.
